Eileen Guerrero Mateus b. 2000 (Bogotá, Colombia)

Eileen Guerrero Mateus is a Colombian Illustrator based in New York City. Heavily influenced by her memories from early childhood in Colombia, fairy tales, space, nature, and the odd, she tells various personal and unique messages in their art.

 

Eileen obtained her BFA in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2022. While in their time at the FIT, Eileen’s passion for children’s books, picture books and storytelling grew. This ignited a desire to create works that captive audiences of all ages, from adults to children, evoking the spirit of their inner child.

 

Being Colombian and an immigrant is a significant part of Eileen’s identity, offering a unique perspective and symbolism into the worlds that she creates within her artworks.

 

Eileen currently works as an art teacher, she channels her love for nurturing creativity into her classroom. Drawing from her own childhood experiences, she is committed to plants seeds of imagination and expression in the lives of her students. Her dedication to inspiring the next generation of artists is rooted in the joy and freedom she discovered as a young creator.
